AGC provide interface for navigation space craft control for astronaut and major functions to accurately reach and land on Moon surface. All Apollo Missions carry this computer to moon and its works flawlessly and perfectly to guide human from moving earth to moving target quarter millions miles away in darkness of space, Consider if navigation and control system shows a minor error results will be loss of lives and billions of budgets that spent on just a single moon mission.
History of Apollo Guidance Computer.
AGC is invented by MIT Instrumentation laboratory. The AGC was the first computer at that time to use integrated circut (IC's) . The computer had 2048 words of erasable magnetic memory and 36 kilowords of read only rope memory. the memory words length was 16bit. The User Interface was DSKY as Display and Keyboard it had many indicator lights calculator like buttons and commands were entered numerically with 2 digit number. It has just 4K RAM and 32K ROM it cost $150000 to build now that computer. AGC is incredibly operate in all Apollo missions and successfully perform all function for such critical journey to Moon.
